How do I register as a captain?

Registering as a captain is simple! Click on the "Register as a Captain" button on our homepage or visit the registration page directly. You'll need to complete a four-step process:

  1. Enter your personal details
  2. Choose your charity and fundraising goal
  3. Upload photos and write your story
  4. Create account credentials

Once registered, you'll have access to your captain's dashboard where you can track donations, edit your profile, and share your fundraising page.

Do I have to choose from pre-selected charities?

No, you can support any registered charity of your choice. When registering, you can either:

  • Select our Charity of the Year, where 100% of donations go to that cause
  • Choose your own charity, where 95% of donations go to your selected charity and 5% to our Charity of the Year

If your preferred charity isn't in our database, simply enter the charity name and details during registration, and we'll verify it for you.

What resources do you provide to help me fundraise?

We provide a variety of resources to help you maximise your fundraising:

  • A personalised fundraising page you can share with supporters
  • Detailed fundraising tips specifically for golf captains
  • Email templates for reaching out to potential donors
  • Social media integration tools to spread the word
  • A dashboard to track your progress and donations

Additionally, our team is always available to provide advice and support throughout your captaincy.

How are donations processed and distributed?

All donations are securely processed through our payment provider (Stripe). Here's how the funds are distributed:

  • For captain-selected charities: 95% goes to the captain's chosen charity and 5% to our Charity of the Year
  • For direct Charity of the Year donations: 100% goes to the featured charity

Donations are transferred to charities on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis based on their request. Funds are stored securely with a third party provider and it is then sent to the charities at the specified time along with donor details.

Is Gift Aid claimed on donations?

Yes, UK taxpayers can add Gift Aid to their donations, which allows charities to claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated. During the donation process, donors can tick the Gift Aid declaration if they're eligible.

The Gift Aid process is handled automatically, and the additional funds are distributed according to the same split as the original donation (95% to the captain's charity and 5% to the Charity of the Year).

Can I organise a one-off golf day fundraiser?

Absolutely! You don't need to be a club captain to run a fundraising golf day through Swing2Good. Visit our Golf Day Registration page to set up a dedicated fundraising page for your event.

This includes:

  • A customised donation page for your event
  • Tools to track and manage participants
  • Options to select your charity beneficiary
  • Resources to help promote your event

The golf day's chosen charity will receive 100% of the donation.

How is the Charity of the Year selected?

Our Charity of the Year is selected annually through a careful evaluation process. We consider:

  • The charity's impact and effectiveness
  • Alignment with our community's values
  • Areas of particular need or urgency
  • Opportunities for meaningful partnership

The selected charity is announced at the beginning of each calendar year and remains our featured charity for 12 months.
